MS. ANNA COSTELLO
LEAD EDUCATOR, THE LITTLE HOUSE
NAMC (North American Montessori Center) Early Childhood Diploma, ECE Certified/ BS in Business from St. John’s University / CPR/AED Infant/Child and Adult Certified / 6 years experience assistant educator / 10 years of daycare experience
Anna enjoys spending time with her family, watching her son play soccer, as well as running, hiking, walking her dogs and experiencing the world through the eyes of children. Respect, kindness and compassion to all living things is her mantra.
Anna worked as a CPA for 16 years before retiring to raise her daughter and son. She was very active in her children’s elementary schools by volunteering for as many activities available. She also took care of several children in her home as she felt compassion for the working moms trying to juggle their work and home lives. She worked in the Northport/East Northport schools and then became an assistant at a private Waldorf pre-school in Centerport. The Waldorf theory considers the first years of life children learn best by being immersed in an environment they can learn through un-selfconscious imitation of practical activities. After visiting The School House and learning about the American Emergent Curriculum as well as engaging with Mimosa and feeling her passion for Montessori education she immediately knew this was where she needed to be. Anna truly believes the Montessori hands on approach provides the best learning environment for children to learn at their own unique pace and to develop a love of learning, strong problem solving abilities, as well as developing their physical, social, emotional and cognitive selves.
